Fruit Bursts

In the ripening moment,
tropical fruit explodes
beyond vision, traveling
faster than light.

Unfamiliar worlds spin by
spurning racing rivers
in the smoldering night.

Golden fish emerge
swimming these fresh waters,
and strange realms are revealed,
smiling like friendly aliens
born outside of time.

Odd faces appear and
nowhere is there a forest,
person, or dog
as it was before
in the time of murder and war.

Yes, the fruit has burst
into unforeseen horizons
and nothing is the same
after this explosion . . .

And these new worlds are
already mutating again.
