Of Golden Fishes

Come to me,
O river of golden fishes.

Come to me now,
with your pagan heart
and empty hands
brimming with kisses.

Come to me now,
lover of trembling embrace
and wounded heart—
let your golden fishes
swim to the cobalt sea.

Come to me,
broken river of golden life,
and together we’ll swim
to the open sea,
where our gilded fishes
and trembling kisses
gleam in the shining waters.

Come to me now,
O pagan lover
of the golden fishes;
we’ll ride their
shiny, slippery backs
to the ocean of our dreams.
